It’s not often that I get the opportunity to enjoy browsing the aisles of Dunelm, but I make an exception when new trends are launched.
And with autumn and winter on the horizon and Dunelm stocking new autumn and winter wares, now’s a great time to see what’s in store.
New trends at Dunelm
But first – why Dunelm? Well, if you hadn’t guessed, I’m a huge fan.
My nearest store is more than seven miles from where I live, but that doesn’t put me off from escaping for an afternoon to see what seasonal goods have arrived.
And with Dunelm great at keeping up with interior trends (there’s always something new to see) and the prices very affordable, it’s a win-win in my book.
For this autumn and winter, four new trends have been introduced – Zen, Auburn, Homestead and an update for 5A Fifth Avenue.
So let’s take a closer look at each of the trends, plus what homeware accessories you can get your mitts on to recreate the look.
Zen
This relaxed, contemporary trend features a simple colour palette of black, white and indigo – with pops of greens, blues and natural hues complementing the base colours.
The look has been inspired by Japanese motifs and a mindfulness mood – evident in some of the playful panda sketches on accessories like cushions.
Would it suit your home?
If you’re looking to create a sense of calm and order in your home, without it looking too stark or clinical, then this could be the look for you.
Plus, if you’ve already got some accessories that offer nods towards nature (think house plants and natural flooring or neutral style carpets), you’re halfway there!
My favourite picks
- Zen Panda Cushion £12
- Blue Ribbed Glass Bud Vase £5
- Landscape Blue Mural £60
- Zen Reactive Glaze Dinner Plate £4.50
- Beechwood Ladder £35
Auburn
Offering a sophisticated finish, Auburn has been inspired by high fashion catwalks, where traditional patterns like oak leaves and acorns are replaced with exotic acers and tropical fern motifs, for a modern twist.
It’s a very warm palette – ideal for the cooler months, with red and rust highlights dominating, dotted with highlights of metallics, velvet textures and patterned furniture.
Would it suit your home?
If you’re partial to things like cosy knits and log fires, then this is probably more your style.
But be warned – the look can look quite dark if you’re home doesn’t get too much light or if your lighting doesn’t offer a great balance.
However, you’re halfway there if your home already has wood panelling, darker furniture or a more ‘autumnal’ décor.
My favourite picks
- Charter Wood Accent Table £99
- Chocolate Indulgence Shaggy Rug – from £75
- Chelsea Upholstered Fudge Bedstead – from £299
- Auburn Scene 30cm x 50cm Cushion £10
- Miguel Caramel Glass Table Lamp £49
Homestead
Picture a colour palette of dusty pinks and greys with splashes of moss green and on-trend mustard – and you’ve got homestead.
Accessories mix antiqued floral prints and lace-inspired glass for a feminine, pretty finish.
The look is punctuated with throws casually draped over furniture and sofas to offer a cosy, homely feel.
Would it suit your home?
If you’re into sheepskin throws, muted hues and ethnic/floral prints thrown in for good measure, this will be more your scene.
It’s unique, appealing and easy on the eye. Plus it’s a look that’s easy to change up with new homeware accessories as wall colours and backgrounds are kept light and neutral.
My favourite picks
- Embossed Coloured Jars – set of 3 – £20
- Tevah Coral Bath Mat £15
- Prairie Grey Bed Linen Collection – from £18
- Lucy Cane Grey Small Sideboard £169
- Pack Of Four Lustre Assorted Hiball 550ml Glasses £16
5A Fifth Avenue
Think Sex And The City lofty apartment vibe and that’s this season’s 5A collection inspired look.
With a clear Art Deco influence alongside animal prints, there’s plenty of statement pieces to lust after, and interesting textiles to add to the mix.
Dunelm’s 5A edition for the autumn/winter season blends with pieces from previous seasons to offer a well established, yet sophisticated look.
Would it suit your home?
If you live by the motto ‘Work hard, play hard’ you’ll love the new 5A Fifth Avenue trend.
Sophistication and glamour fit this look perfectly, but without being too ‘in your face’.
It’s not too masculine or feminine, so this trend would suit partners who can’t agree on what décor to go for.
If you’ve already got a neutral décor palette, with greys and blacks incorporated into your existing furniture, you’re halfway there!
My favourite picks
- Jaguar Table Lamp £59
- Fitzgerald Bedside Table £149
- Hera Bead Back Cushion £30
- Hourglass £20
- Leopard Canvas £25
If you’ve watched my video on the 3 Huge Interior Trends for 2019, you’ll know that the coming months (and going into 2019) look to be exciting for interior trends.
This is especially true as changing lifestyles demand new, innovative products.
What I love about the new trends at Dunelm is that they’re great at following interior trends – and anticipating what will be in demand.
And above all, Dunelm’s generous prices mean that now it’s easier to keep up with the Jones’ – even on a tight budget.
I’d love to know your favourite look – and whether any of the new homeware accessories catch your eye…?

There’s a Dunelm right next to where I volunteer, but I’ve never been in there! I think it’s time to change that 🙂
I think you must! But beware…once you do, you might be in there every week!
I just love Dunhelm for great interior ideas to inspire me to update my home at great prizes.

Homested is my fav! Love the colours and patterns. I haven’t been to Dunelm in a while but I think I need to now!!
Great choice! Although some of the accessories from the other trends are really nice too.
I love Dunelm Mill – I go in there for one thing and end up with a trolley full of bits. Great blog. Some lovely items.
Thanks Rebecca! They always seem to have new things in store which is great (although dangerous for my purse!)
I used to love Dunelm when we were in the UK and I still have some of their fleecy warm blankets for the cooler Portuguese winters. If I was to choose one style I’d go for the Zen. It’s definitely my kind of look!
Oh yes – they’ve got the fleecy warm blankets in the shop at the mo – they look so warm and cosy! 🙂
Every other time I would go for Zen but Auburn has caught my heart. We love a good Dunelm visit me and my mum and can get lost in there for days.
It’s great isn’t it? I could spend fortunes in Dunelm – I usually have to try and restrain myself. Great that you have one near you.
I’m completely torn between Auburn and Zen! Will just have to go in for a nosey!
Oooh yes – I know what you mean. Or just take your favourite inspiration from both and come up with your own eclectic interiors mix! 😉
I love that ladder so much and the bed and the sofa. We love Dunelm Mill so much too. We’re moving house soon and have already started prepping our Dunelm wish list ready for it. 🙂 x
That’s fab Chloe – the great thing about Dunelm is that they usually have some fab finds on their clearance shelves – and they’ve always got clearance shelves!
I love Dunelm, we have a store about a mile away and I am forever in there buying bits for the house. x
Ha ha! I think if i had a store about a mile away I’d be down there every weekend. It’s probably good that I don’t!
I am loving these new trends for autumn/winter. Always nice to change some decor every season.
Definitely – I find it easier to change accessories like cushions and lamp bases etc rather than furniture or soft furnishings – costs less too!
Aww I love the Auburn trend! Perfect for autumn but also a mix of fifth avenue!
Actually, some of the items go really well together for an eclectic look don’t they? Style it up your own way? Liking that idea!
Homestead is the one for me. What lovely items. We are buying a new home soon and some of these ideas would work really well, thank you.
