Imagine waking up to a different view every day yet only unpacking once; welcome to the world of cruising! 

Taking a cruise is no longer dominated by the over 50s market; following huge investment and development on entertainment and activities geared towards all age groups and interests in the last decade, families, young couples and even groups are jumping on the bandwagon to tick a cruise holiday off their bucket list.

In fact, recent findings from CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association) show that the number of people embarking on cruise holidays has risen by 68% in the past decade.

But cruising not only offers the opportunity to experience a variety of destinations, it also allows passengers the chance to see these wonderful destinations from a whole new angle – and experience some incredible views.

To help pick out some of the best views on cruise voyages, Cruise118.com asked 2,250 people to pick their favourite cruise destination view from a list of 15 unlabelled photos taken from the deck of cruise ships.

The results revealed that:

• St. Tropez was the favourite Mediterranean location (42.6%), beating Italy’s Amalfi Coast (17.8%)
• Over 50% of people picked Komodo Island, Indonesia as their favourite Asiatic view
• Two in five people selected the British Virgin Islands as their ‘Best of the Rest’ view, beating the likes of Patagonia and Vancouver

Respondents were asked to vote for their favourite view across three surveys, categorised by Europe, Asia and the rest of the world.

In the Mediterranean, St Tropez was the top view, followed by the Amalfi Coast, Lisbon, Valletta and Ibiza.

In Asia, Komodo Island took the top spot for the majority of those polled, followed by Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

For the rest of the world, it was the British Virgin Isles that took first place for the best cruise view, followed by Patagonia, Vancouver, the Chilean Fjords and Auckland.

James Cole, Managing Director at Cruise118.com, said that one of the benefits of taking a cruise holiday is the sheer number of spectacular sights that travellers are treated to along the way: “Waking up to a different view every morning is obviously hugely appealing, and there are some jaw-droppingly stunning locations dotted around the world. There are few better ways to see them than from the deck of a cruise ship.”

Finally, it’s worth noting that cruises are more affordable than people think, especially when you consider that the majority of voyages are all-inclusive, which means that all meals, most activities and gratuities are taken care of.
