Spiced Honey Is Colour Of The Year 2019

Spiced Honey Colour of The Year 2019

Spiced Honey is Dulex’s Colour Of The Year 2019 and although I’m not a seasoned follower of ‘colour of the year’, Spiced Honey appealed to me because it’s a hue that most of us will have in our homes naturally.

Take my honey-coloured bee box for example (pictured). I picked it up in a local market in Scottburgh – a small town near Durban in South Africa.

It now sits proudly on one of my lounge sideboards and houses scented tea light candles – something that I use regularly to help create a cosy atmosphere once the evening comes.

Given that Spiced Honey is one of those colours that’s easy to incorporate into most interior themes, I’ve scoured the internet to have a good old nose at what's out there to bring you a selection of affordable ‘Spiced Honey’ homeware items that will see you keeping up with the Jones’ in 2019.

So let’s take a closer look…

Spiced Honey Colour Of The Year 2019

1. First impressions count

And they start right at the front door! You’ll literally have stars in your eyes with this new Mini Stars Doormat from Cox and Cox.

The usual price is £20 but it’s in the sale now for just £15

2. Sweet scents

This Kitchen Tangerine and Ginger Candle from Laura Ashley costs £10 for a burn time of up to 25 hours and is currently on offer for £6.30.

It kicks off a sparkling citrus fragrance with juicy notes of sunny orange, hints of tangerine and zesty lemon.

It’s a great kitchen shelf addition and offers an uplifting fragrance that combines spicy, fresh ginger with calming mandarin blossom and jasmine blooms over a base of contemporary woods.

3. Hung up on you

Exclusive to Graham & Brown is this gorgeous Colour Block Geo Pink Wallpaper, featuring subtle shades of Spiced Honey (soft blush pinks and rose gold metallic lines).

Inspired by Italian design, it costs £50 a roll and would look just as great in your boudoir as it would in your downstairs cloakroom.

4. I’ll drink to that

Having a bit of a mini obsession with unique glasses, when I clocked my peepers on these Artland Coppertino DOF Tumblers, I knew they had to be included in my Spiced Honey homeware round-up.

They’re from I Want One Of Those, are dishwasher safe and cost £19.99 for two (previously £27.50), offering a saving of £7.51!

5. Snuggle up

There’s little better than snuggling up on the sofa when the wind is howling outside with a good throw to keep you cosy.

And I’ve found a cracker of a one for you….this Flannel Fleece Sherpa Thow from Amazon (available in a double or king size) costs just £12.95.

Put it on your bed or drape it over a tub chair, it’ll stylish wherever you decide you’ll need it.

6. Turn me on

This ‘Tommy’ Copper Desk Lamp from Habitat is an affordable £25 and has an adjustable arm and head, allowing light to be directed where it's most needed.

It’s exclusive to Habitat (having been designed in-house), and is also available in a variety of colours and sizes – but this ‘Spiced Honey’ hue is my fave!

7. Light my fire

This Water Hyacinth Round Log Basket is from Dunelm and will help store those logs to keep the fire burning as temperatures plummet.

Or you could use it to stash your collection of magazines/throws/bath bombs/whatever you can think of!

It costs £20 and measures 49cm (W) x 49cm (L) x 40cm (H).

8. Hop to it

As you might already be aware, we’ve got four bunnies in our household – yes, you could say that I’m a bit of a fan.

Lucky for me, ornaments of woodland creatures – including rabbits – are all the rage right now and I spotted this Bronze Hare Decoration in The Range for the fab price of £14.99.

On your mantelpiece, in your office or sitting proud in your dining room, wherever you put this little beauty it’s sure to offer a statement piece.

What's your favourite item – and do you have any Spiced Honey coloured homeware accessories that you can use for next year's Colour Of The Year?

The copper desk lamp is really lovely. Honey and coppers are such warming colours in the home.

Great inspiration and pinboard for a small bedroom I am decorating soon – the wallpaper is pricy, but I love it! And, when you work the cost out over how long it will be on the walls – it’s merely pennies – right? Plus, the room is small, and I usually only paper one wall – and then some feature bits. I would also use everything else in the list, except the mat – obviously this wouldnt look great in a bedroom. I love the rabbit (but, I think it may be a hare?) we have hundreds of rabbits helping us too eat our garden produce here (yes, very helpful, I am sure) but, we still love them xx Thank you for the hints and advice – you have style xx

Thanks Betsy – great that you’ve been inspired and I totally agree with you – it’s a good idea to feature wallpaper on a feature wall and then highlighted in other areas – it’s exactly what I do and it keeps costs down. I think the Spiced Honey look can look great in most homes and most decor schemes because it’s so versatile. Looks like we have similar tastes in decor if you’re liking most of the items I’ve picked out! 🙂

Ah that’s lovely – thanks Melanie. I’m drawn towards the hare statues too. Mind you, the stag ones they have out in Sainsbury’s at the mo look great too.

Ohhh I actually like this colour a lot, and a few of these items you have picked out are right up my street. Its a very warm, cosy sort of colour isnt it. Nice!

It’s a subtle one isn’t it Kerry? Not too offensive! I think we’ll see a lot more High Street homeware shops cottoning on to Spiced Honey as it’s so versatile it can be used across all sorts of homeware. I was looking for a nice tray too, but I couldn’t seem to find one – and I look for hours!

What an interesting colour of the year for 2019, i can see it being used a lot as it’s a colour that would work well with so many things. Hmm, may have to get some spiced honey into my home.

Thanks Sarah – that’s one of the reasons I decided to post about it – it works well in most people’s homes and isn’t too garish or wayward for people not to like.

Hints of metallic glam look great with most colours and this one looks like a fab update of the regular gold silver and bronze.

LaurettaCWright 19th October 2018 - 10:46 am

Thanks Micaela – yes, there has been a slight shift from the gold, silver and bronze homeware items – this is really versatile though and would work across all decor themes which is great. It’s one of my favourite ‘Colours of the year’ – and seems appropriate for autumn and winter too actually!
