I saw this headline in another blog post recently and my first thought was not to bother reading it, but I'm really glad I did as I found the blogger's post uplifting and inspiring – so much so, that I decided to write my own!
1. Season 5 of Prison Break!
They all thought Michael Scofield was dead, but it turns out he's locked up in some prison abroad! Can he really be alive? And if so, seven years after his death, will him and Sarah get back together again? Who knows, but I'm so looking forward to finding out!
2. My next holiday
As I start to write this post I'm on holiday in Scottburgh, South Africa. I have needed this holiday for such a long time and it's lovely just to be able to sit and relax. And now that I'm getting into the holiday spirit, I forgot how nice it actually is.
So I'm excited to plan my next trip away. What I really like is the opportunity to explore new places and try new experiences. Right now I have no idea where I'll be going in 2017 but I'm excited thinking about exploring the options.
I dearly wish I had more time to blog and vlog. It's something that I really enjoy and, as my subscribers and social media followers continue to grow, I'm finding there are a lot more opportunities out there to work with brands…who knows where my blog could take me next or who I'll be collaborating with.
The other thing that I really enjoy is the opportunity to ‘e-meet' other bloggers. I've made a small handful of friends in the 10 months I've been blogging for – and I'm looking forward to making many more.
Anyone attending the Vuelio blog awards one starry night in November? I didn't put myself forward for any awards, but I'm attending anyway to get my first feel of the awards…
4. Getting a summerhouse
We've been saying this for years and this summer we had a decision to make: a family holiday or a summerhouse? Being huge travel fans (and because I was desperate for a holiday!) we opted for a ten-night break in South Africa. You can watch the series of vlogs about it on my channel. It might have to be camping in the garden next year if we want to get the summerhouse though!
The other reason for buying one is that the kids are growing up quickly – they're now 11 and 9 and I know they are increasingly going to want to be ‘hanging out' with their friends. Where better to hang out than ina summerhouse?
It will be warm and dry, with snacks and drinks on hand plus a Projector to watch some cool movies. And better still, I get to keep a close eye on them!
5. Saturday nights
And it has nothing to do with the TV shows, although I have been known to be partial to a bit of Strictly Come Dancing on a Saturday night. But Saturday night is family night which means it's treat night!
This typically involves me & the kids getting pic n' mix sweets from Wilko and VIP getting in some drink, then we'll either watch some family TV or settle for a film. All week I look forward to Saturday night.
It's license to eat sweets at free will (I'm good all week!) and relax in my PJs enjoying the company of my family.
6. Getting a super king size bed (and finally decorating our bedroom!)
A lack of funds has prevented us from decorating our bedroom – what money we saved (or were given as gifts for birthdays/Christmas) has gone into doing the kids' bedrooms, the ensuite, kitchen and various other household projects.
And we still have rooms that need doing including our bedroom, the downstairs cloakroom and the family bathroom, so these are on our wish list.
However, every time I go away I always admire the Super King size beds I sleep in – and I wouldn't mind one myself! I could spread out across the whole bed and my feet wouldn't be anywhere near the sides!
7. The weekend!
Apart from Saturday night of course, I love the weekend. It's a chance to catch up with friends, potter in the garden or visit attractions with the kids.
Because I get my head down and work hard all week I think it makes me appreciate what little spare time I get. In fact, I have been known to use the phrase ‘I live for the weekends' a few times.
Every once in a while we jump in the car and head off somewhere new. Living in Kent, there are lots of little unexplored villages within a half hour drive with their quaint chocolate box cottages and cute gift and tea shops. We're lucky to have the opportunity to do that really.
8. My next upcycling project
I don't really have many hobbies (through lack of time as much as anything else), but what I really look forward to when I get the chance is upcycling and crafting.
I have soooo many craft projects in the pipeline that I've actually started to collate all my ‘pull out and keep' craft projects from magazines into a large folder.
I keep convincing myself that one day I'll find the time to start and finish a few of them. And that's what gives me hope. Instead of aiming too high I've decided to start off with simple projects that will take just 5 minutes – that way I'm more likely to make a start on them.
9. Losing weight with Slimming World
Well, the good news is that I've managed to lose a stone in the last few months. I've got another couple to go though, but the great thing about losing weight (apart from the compliments from friends & family) is the opportunity to buy new clothes as the weight drops off.
I think the hardest thing about dieting is not so much the losing of the weight – it's keeping it off. You have to really embrace the whole lifestyle change to stay on top of things and prevent the pounds from creeping back on.
10. Winning the lottery!
No, I can't foresee the future on this, but I do buy a lotto ticket most weeks in the hope of hitting the jackpot. So what would you do if you won the lottery? I could talk about this all day of course, as it's nice to dream.
I have a few ideas on what I'd like to do including helping out friends and family, household projects (which you now know about) and loads of travelling. I think every time it was half term, Easter or any school holiday, we'd be off exploring new destinations and trying new activities to experience together.
I think the words I'm looking for are ‘creating memories'. Anyway, going back to being excited – and taking a quote from one of my favourite films, The Shawshank Redemption: “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”
What things are you excited about? Share the joy!
