If someone were to ask VIP what I consider to be my most prized possessions (apart from the kids of course!), he’d say “Her MacBook and iPhone” – and he’d be right.
I’m rarely seen without one or the other. I don’t know if that’s necessarily a good thing, but I do know that Apple should probably be paying me dividends for brand promotion.
Long before I started blogging and vlogging, I’d mock VIP and ask how his ‘P.E’ was. The ‘e’ standing for ‘extension’ and without spelling it out (this is a family-friendly site), the ‘p’ standing for something that only men have.
The nickname referred to the fact that he always had his ‘P.E’ in his hand. Ahem.
Yes, it’s a bit insensitive but now the tables have turned and it’s me that is paranoid about losing sight of my beloved gadgets.
When I’m not on the phone I’m with my MacBook. In fact, my Macbook comes with me to the office, to my parents’ house if we go round for Sunday lunch (if I’m on deadline) – and it comes with me on holiday.
So when I had the opportunity to choose a stylish, protective case for my MacBook from STM Goods, I picked a good ‘un – and here it is.
It’s called Grace and it’s a 13” Deluxe Laptop Sleeve that retails for £34.95. In fact, you can pick this particular product up for as little as £13.39 on Amazon (click the link at the end of the post for a direct link).
I chose the dark purple ‘cos it looks really classy!
In it for the long-haul
I’d been using a plain black cover case for my MacBook, inherited from VIP. And although it did the job of keeping my MacBook safe, it wasn’t really my taste.
So I was really excited about receiving a snazzy new laptop sleeve that I had chosen myself.
Luckily, it arrived just before my two-week Easter break in the sun, so I took it with me.
Here I am at Disney World’s water park, Typhoon Lagoon (on the beach) with my new case….
And here I am at Orlando Airport on the trip home; as you can see I look after it very carefully as it’s still in pristine condition. And out it came on the plane too! Well, a girl’s gotta do her work…
There are many things that attracted me to the laptop sleeve:
- Its colour – a classy two-tone purple, which is distinctive enough to stand out from the crowd but not garish.
- It’s fur-lined inside – it has a super soft faux fur lined inside that is lovely to touch and reassuring to know that my MacBook is housed in a nice, safe place.
- Padded cover – the inner padding ensures my prized possessions are kept super safe.
- More storage – if I’m on a quick journey then I know I’ll be carrying my MacBook, phone, purse and keys. Luckily, the additional zipped-pocket means that I can carry all of these in the one case, safely and securely.
The sleeve has a magnetic clasp, which is great but a zip might have worked better for me.
I only say this because my son accidentally picked up the sleeve from the bottom and out fell my MacBook – the magnetic clasp wasn’t strong enough to hold it in.
Fortunately, it was indoors at the time and it fell on the vinyl kitchen floor, otherwise I might not have been a happy mummy that day!
The comfy straps on the sleeve mean that I can carry it by my side using the handles or hook it over my shoulder to tuck it under my arm.
I like the versatility that the straps offer; for an updated version, adjustable straps could be an idea to offer the third option of wearing it across the body.
Overall though, I’m thrilled with my new sleeve. Having a dedicated carry accessory for my MacBook means that I have quick access to it; something that’s really important to me as I often work ‘on the move’.
Plus I’ve already had one friend comment that she liked it and wanted one – and we all know that imitation is the greatest form of flattery.
