10 New Things: 21st July – 4th August, 2018
Here's 10 new launches – 5 in Interiors and 5 in Travel….
I’m taking a short break to spend some quality time with the kids (they’re only young once!), so my next ’10 New Things’ will be published on 3rd August – enjoy the rest of July people!
1. This Week I'm Loving…
Doulton’s at-home filtration system – straight from the tap!
With all the hot weather we’ve been having lately my thirst levels have been on the increase. But since installing an American-style fridge freezer (complete with a filtered water dispenser) I can’t drink straight from the tap now – it has to be filtered water!
So when I saw some of the products offered by Doulton, I thought ‘That’s a great idea!’ Take this HCS & Ultracarb – kitchen work top filtration unit. Apparently, it’s easy to install (and uninstall) to a kitchen mains water supply/tap, making it portable to use at a mix of locations for those living/working across various spaces.
The RRP is £188 and it fits to most common threaded kitchen taps via a diverter valve – have a read of this and discover more of the company’s filter products…
2. Something unique…
I’m in the need for some new tea towels and love this David Shrigley Ice Cream Tea Towel complete with a positive quote to keep me motivated whilst doing the dishes!
It’s not cheap at £35, but it’s certainly unique.

10. What's New?
Brighton's vibrant streets provide a huge range of amazing places to explore.
There are the family friendly arcades, beaches and museums, the Brighton pier, which has been a favourite attraction in the seaside resort since the Victorian era and the towering i360 providing a panoramic view across the county and the hustle and bustle of Brighton city centre.
One great way to uncover the hidden secrets of all these locations and have a lot of fun at the same time is with a self-guided Treasure Trail.
Designed for all ages from six to 106, there are 3 Treasure Trails to choose from in Brighton with exciting locations like ‘Brighton Lanes & North Laine', ‘Brighton Seafront' and ‘Brighton Cultural Quarter'.
The Trails cost £6.99, are suitable for groups of up to five and, compared to the average family day out at a theme park or visitor attraction, represent amazing value for money.
Lasting around two hours, the aim is to solve a set of fiendish clues on a circular route of approximately two miles incorporating plaques, signs, statues, monuments, images, engravings or anything else the Trail writers can make use of.
The average summer break from school will involve 11 day trips, 344 miles of travel – and two cases of sunburn, a study has revealed.
A survey of 2,000 British families by National Express Coach found the long summer holiday away from lessons will also see children spend 11 and a half hours at the swimming pool, nine hours at the cinema and 12 hours foisted off on friends.
Another 16 hours will be spent simply sitting in the car as parents ferry the family around from place to place.
It also emerged parents will hear each of their kids wail “I’m bored” an average of 33 times during the summer holidays – combating this by forking out for 19 ice creams a head.
