There’s no shortage of gifts galore on the High Street, but if you’re looking for something a bit different (and sometimes quirky), you’ve come to the right place.
I wanted to put together something a bit special; a post of unique pressies that you might not have considered for your best pals and family this Christmas…
1. PICTURE THIS
Kicking off the Christmas present idea post is the gift that keeps on giving – happy memories! We all enjoy looking at photos and recalling great times, so why not go that one step further for a loved one and commit a memory to something they will use or see regularly?
We’re not just talking about the personalised calendars and mugs – Snapfish offers a whole range of goodies that would suit even the hardest of people to buy for – from round acrylic ornaments for the mother-in-law and iPhone cases for the nephew to cushions for your granny and canvases for your better half.
Or why not offer a really special delivery this Christmas, with the option to make personalised Christmas cards? They certainly trump your bog standard shop-bought cards any day!
Prices are affordable and if you have a nosey around their website there are plenty of deals to be had. Better still, ordering is a synch – how do I know? Yours truly gave it a go….impressed that you can also upload pictures from sites such as Facebook and Instagram.
And the clever people at Snapfish went that one step further with a ‘how to’ video – watch it here.
2. COLOUR ME BEAUTIFUL
I clocked this great product at the Spirit of Christmas Fair and thought it was genius.
The company, EatSleepDoodle, offers a selection of products that come with wash-out pens so they can be coloured in with personal messages and designs.
Afterwards the ink all washes out in a warm machine wash, so they can be re-doodled and re-designed endlessly. Products range from pillowcases to mugs and backpacks (between £12.50 and £15)
3. ON YOUR BIKE
Cycling has become really popular in the last few years and you don’t see an awful lot of shops catering to this emerging trend in the form of gifts. That is, except for Dotcomgiftshop.
Examples include bicycle clips, LED lights, bicycle seats, hip flasks, horns and even bicycle-shaped paper clips…it’s a lengthy list! We love this ‘Le Bicycle Washbag’ which costs £14.95
4. A WARMING GIFT
How cute is this Fox Faux Fur Hot Water Bottle from Aroma Home?
As the days continue to get colder, this warming gift would make for a very welcome present.
Made with sumptuous soft high quality faux fur and a fox designed with sequin details (to add a touch of glamour), they’ll be no mistaking this water bottle from the others. It costs £24.99.
5. BOOK WORM
If you’ve got someone in the family who’s a ‘thinker’ and you’re looking for a stocking filler that doesn’t blow the budget, how about The Wife: A Ladybird Personalised Book which costs £12.99 from I Just Love It?
It features classic vintage visuals and tongue-in-cheek narrative all about the mysterious being that is also known as ‘The Wife’. Other Ladybird options include ‘The Husband’, ‘The Mid-Life Crisis’ and ‘The Hangover’, plus they also do old classics such as Cinderella and Rapunzel.
6. DRINK UP
Us Brits all like a good cuppa, so if you’re going to have a good cuppa, make sure it’s in a good mug!
This adorable, on-trend bumble-bee designed mug will have you the envy of your friends.
It would also make a great ‘Secret Santa’ pressie for a colleague so they don’t get their mug mixed up with someone else’s in office! The fine china mug is available from the NHM Shop and costs £12.
7. TECH TREAT
One for the gadget fans, this colourful Bobino Mobile Phone Holder is a handy, easy to use storage solution when charging your phone.
Simply place the phone on the holder, wrap the adapter cord around the holder, then insert the adapter through the opening and plug into a wall socket. BOSH! It costs £4.99 and is available from Totally Funky in six different colours.
8. BED HAIR? WHAT BED HAIR?
With two males in my household, getting the quiff ‘just so’ is a top priority for my lot in the morning. Hand in hand with this means that the product has to be ‘just so’ to last throughout the day – and sometimes even the evening.
I recently came across some new grooming products from British barbers Johnny’s Chop Shop – a male grooming brand from London, that fuses 1950/60s retro style and modern day trends.
For Christmas they offer a choice of five limited edition gift boxes sold exclusively at Boots, both instore and online. This sits alongside the core grooming range of 11 styling products, from Beard Oil and Grooming Cream to Face Balm and Hair Clay all available online.
The men in my life trialed the Wild Cat Hair Clay (£7) – a strong hold, matte finish styling clay suitable for all hair types – and give it a huge thumbs up. In fact, we’re almost at the bottom of the pot, so I think this might have to make my Christmas ‘to buy’ list this year.
9. SWEET & SAVOURY: THE BEST OF BOTH
For the foodies in your life, hampers need not cost the earth. Take a look at ‘The Specially Selected Treats Hamper’ from Aldi.
For just £24.51 it includes a variety of sweet and savoury treats, from chutney and jam to crackers, chocolates and biscuits, as well as a classic Bordeaux blend.
10. AMAZING AROMAS
If candles are you thing (they are certainly mine!) then look no further than Closet and Botts – a popular vintage homeware store – which has recently launched a new range of products.
One of them is this scented candle by Clement & Claude which comes in five different scents, and two sizes. The small is £18.50 and the large is £32.50.
Clement & Claude candles are individually hand-poured and finished in London. They are made of 100% soy wax, a soft, clean, renewable wax that is extracted straight from the bean and melted over a low heat, then blended with fine fragrance oils. Once blended and filled, each amber glass jar is topped with a ceramic black lid and boxed in a 100% recyclable kraft natural gift box. Hey presto!
I hope you’ve managed to be inspired by some of these unique Christmas present ideas. Gifting something that little bit special goes a long way to showing someone that you’ve really put the effort in and given some extra thought about what your family and friends would like to unwrap this Christmas.
